PROFIFY REFUND AND PAYMENT POLICY

Please read this policy carefully before making any payment on the Profify Platform. It determines your rights with respect to purchases, including applicable restrictions and refund conditions. This policy forms part of the Profify Terms of Service and Subscription Services Terms.
Profify strives to ensure a clear and fair understanding of all financial arrangements between Students and Tutors/Coaches. This policy applies to all transactions made through profify.ca and the Profify mobile application (collectively, the "Profify Platform").
1. TUTOR/COACH–STUDENT TRANSACTIONS
Profify facilitates connections between Students and Tutors/Coaches by providing a marketplace platform to request, deliver, and pay for tutoring and coaching services. Profify is a technology intermediary and is not a party to any agreement between a Student and a Tutor/Coach. Profify is not responsible for the quality, delivery, or outcome of any sessions provided by Tutors/Coaches.
2. BILLING CURRENCY
All transactions on the Profify Platform are processed in Canadian dollars (CAD). Prices displayed at checkout include applicable taxes (GST/HST and provincial taxes where required).
For international users, prices may be displayed in other currencies for convenience. However, all payments will be processed in CAD. Exchange rates and any applicable foreign transaction fees are determined by your bank or payment provider. Profify is not responsible for currency fluctuations or fees charged by your financial institution.
If you have questions about fees or exchange rates, please contact your bank or payment card provider directly.
3. FEES AND TAXES
3.1 Service Fees — Students
Profify charges Students a platform service fee ("Processing Fee") on each purchase made through the Profify Platform. The Processing Fee will be clearly displayed at checkout before you confirm your payment. All fees are subject to applicable Canadian taxes (GST/HST and provincial taxes), which will also be displayed at checkout.
3.2 Service Fees — Tutors/Coaches
Profify charges Tutors/Coaches a platform commission ("Profify Commission") on each confirmed session conducted through the Platform. The applicable commission rate is displayed in the "My Profile – Pricing" section of your account. Profify reserves the right to modify its commission rates at any time, with prior notice to affected users.
3.3 Tax Obligations — Tutors/Coaches
Tutors/Coaches are independent contractors and are solely responsible for their own tax obligations, including:
1. Determining whether you are required to register for and collect GST/HST under the Excise Tax Act (Canada) based on your annual revenue threshold;
2. Remitting applicable GST/HST and provincial sales taxes to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA);
3. Reporting your Profify income on your annual tax return as self-employment income;
4. Providing Profify with accurate tax information (including your SIN or Business Number) as required under CRA reporting rules for digital platform operators.
Profify may be required under CRA regulations to collect, verify, and report income and tax information about Tutors/Coaches who earn above applicable reporting thresholds. If you fail to provide required tax documentation, Profify may withhold payouts up to the legally required amount until documentation is received.
Tutors/Coaches agree that Profify may issue invoices or similar documentation on their behalf to facilitate accurate tax reporting where required.
3.4 Non-Refundable Fees
Except where otherwise stated in this policy, Profify's service fees (Processing Fee and Profify Commission) and applicable taxes are non-refundable once charged.
4. PAYMENT METHODS
The following payment methods are accepted on the Profify Platform:
· Visa / Mastercard
· Apple Pay
· Google Pay
· Additional payment methods may be added from time to time — see the checkout page for the current list.
All payments for sessions and service fees must be made exclusively through the Profify Platform. Payments made directly between Students and Tutors/Coaches outside the platform are a violation of the Profify Terms of Service.
5. PAYMENT PROCESSING & SECURITY
Payment processing on the Profify Platform is handled by third-party payment processors, including Stripe. Profify does not collect, store, or process your payment card information. All payment data is handled directly by your payment processor using SSL encryption and industry-standard security protocols.
By making a payment through the Profify Platform, you acknowledge that:
· Your billing information is processed solely by the third-party payment processor.
· Profify is not responsible for any failure by the payment processor to adequately protect your information.
· Payment processing is subject to the payment processor's own terms, conditions, and privacy policy in addition to this policy.
· Profify may change its payment processors at any time, and may require your information to be transferred to a new provider using equivalent security technology.
Payment made by a Student through the Profify Platform fully satisfies the Student's payment obligation to the Tutor/Coach for that session.
6. PAYOUTS TO TUTORS/COACHES
Tutors/Coaches receive payment for each confirmed session via the Profify Platform through a supported third-party payment processor. Transaction fees charged by the payment processor will be deducted from each payout and are displayed within your Profify account.
To be eligible to withdraw earnings from your Profify account, you must:
1. Complete Profify's identity verification process;
2. Provide accurate tax information to Profify as required under CRA reporting rules for digital platform operators (Information Return RZ: Part XX);
3. Maintain a valid payout method connected to your account.
7. SESSION RETURN POLICY
7.1 Unconfirmed Sessions
If a session remains unconfirmed for 30 days and no issue has been reported by either party, the session will be considered as not having taken place, and it will be returned to the Student's account balance. The returned session will be subject to the applicable expiry terms under the Profify Terms of Service.
7.2 Issue Reporting
Either party has up to 30 days from the date of a session to report an issue related to that session by contacting support@profify.ca. If a reported issue is not resolved within 30 days of being raised, the session will be deemed as not having taken place and will be returned to the Student's balance.
8. REFUNDS
8.1 General Refund Conditions
Refund requests must be submitted to support@profify.ca. Profify will review each request and issue a decision within 30 calendar days. You may receive only one refund per request.
Canadian Consumer Right: Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act (Ontario) or other applicable Canadian consumer protection legislation. Where mandatory consumer protection law applies, it prevails over this policy.
8.2 Extenuating Circumstances
If extenuating circumstances caused you to miss a session or cancel at short notice, a refund or Session credit may be considered at the Tutor/Coach's discretion. Tutors/Coaches are not obligated to approve such requests.
8.3 Refunds — Session Packages (One-Time Purchases)
· If a trial session did not take place, you may request either: (a) a free replacement session with another Tutor/Coach of your choice on the Profify Platform; or (b) a refund of the payment.
· If a scheduled trial session did not take place but was accidentally confirmed, you may request: (a) a transfer of the session credit to another Tutor/Coach; or (b) a refund of the payment.
· Refund requests for one-time session packages must be submitted within 90 days of payment. After 90 days, sessions may be returned to your Profify account balance for use with another Tutor/Coach, but no cash refund will be issued.
8.4 Refunds — Subscriptions
Refund terms for subscription purchases are governed by Section 4.11 of the Profify Subscription Services Terms.
8.5 Refunds — Top-Up Sessions
Refunds for ad-hoc top-up session purchases are available upon request within 90 days of purchase. After 90 days, no refund will be issued.
8.6 Non-Refundable Situations
No refund will be issued in the following circumstances:
· You lost or forgot your login credentials, resulting in loss of access or data.
· You experienced an internet outage, device reset, software update, or other technical issue on your end.
· Your account was suspended or terminated due to a breach of the Profify Terms of Service, User Code of Conduct, or any other Profify policy.
· You deleted your Profify account (remaining balance expires upon account deletion).
· Your account was inactive for more than 180 days (unused balance expires).
8.7 Refund Processing
Refunds will be issued to the original Payment Method used for the purchase. The speed of the refund and availability of funds in your account depends on your bank's processing times. Profify is not responsible for any fees charged by your bank or payment processor in connection with a refund. All refunds are processed in CAD.
9. HOW TO REQUEST A REFUND
To request a refund, email support@profify.ca with the following information:
· Your full name and registered email address
· Date and time of the session
· Name of the Tutor/Coach
· Reason for the refund request
· Any supporting information or evidence (if applicable)
Profify will acknowledge your request and issue a decision within 30 calendar days. If your request is approved, your refund will be processed promptly.
10. AUTO REFILLS
When you purchase a session package, you may opt into automatic session refills ("Auto Refill"). When your session balance with a specific Tutor/Coach drops to one or fewer sessions, the same package will automatically be re-purchased and charged to your saved Payment Method.
Canadian Auto-Renewal Disclosure: In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act (Ontario), you are hereby clearly notified that Auto Refill is a recurring charge. You may cancel or modify Auto Refill at any time through the "Payment Methods" section in your account Settings — no cancellation fee applies.
11. CHARGEBACKS
If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or payment provider in connection with a Profify purchase, Profify reserves the right to immediately suspend access to all accounts you hold on the platform pending investigation.
Any fees, costs, or expenses incurred by Profify as a result of a chargeback or payment dispute initiated by you, your bank, or a third-party payment processor are your responsibility and may be recovered by Profify.
We encourage you to contact support@profify.ca to resolve any payment concerns before initiating a chargeback. Most issues can be resolved quickly through our support team.
12. ACCOUNT BALANCE EXPIRY
Your session balance or account credits will expire in the following circumstances:
· Your account has been inactive for more than 180 days.
· You delete your Profify account.
· Your subscription is cancelled or terminated (unused sessions expire at end of current billing cycle).
· Your account is suspended or terminated by Profify due to a policy violation.
Profify will notify you by email before account inactivity-based expiry where reasonably possible.
13. PROFIFY IS NOT A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION
Profify is a technology marketplace and is not a bank, financial institution, payment service provider, or registered money services business. Payments made through the Profify Platform are made solely for the purpose of facilitating tutoring and coaching services between Students and Tutors/Coaches. The platform must not be used for any fraudulent, unlawful, or criminal purpose.
14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
Profify reserves the right to modify this Refund and Payment Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on profify.ca, and you will be notified by email for any material updates. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
