This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how Profify uses them, and the choices you have regarding their use. This policy forms part of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
If you have any questions, please contact us at support@profify.ca.
1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device on future visits and store certain preferences or actions.
Cookies are widely used to make websites work efficiently, improve user experience, and provide reporting information to site owners. Cookies set by profify.ca are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by third-party services we use (such as Google Analytics) are called "third-party cookies."
2. DOES PROFIFY USE COOKIES?
Yes. Profify ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on profify.ca and our mobile application (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services and selecting your preferences in our cookie consent banner, you agree to the use of cookies as described in this policy.
Under Canada's PIPEDA and anti-spam legislation (CASL), we are required to obtain your meaningful consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device. You will be presented with a cookie consent banner on your first visit, where you can accept, decline, or customize your preferences.
3. TYPES OF COOKIES WE USE
Profify uses four categories of cookies:
Strictly Necessary
Essential for profify.ca to function. These cookies enable core features like login sessions, security, and page navigation. They do not store any personally identifiable information.
Session cookies deleted when you close your browser; others up to 2 years.
Performance & Analytics
Help us understand how visitors use profify.ca — which pages are visited most, how long users stay, and where errors occur. This helps us improve the platform.
Up to 2 years after your last visit. Some persistent cookies must be deleted manually.
Functional
Remember your preferences (e.g., language, time zone, saved filters) so you don't have to re-enter them on each visit.
Session cookies or persistent — some must be deleted manually.
Targeting & Advertising
Used to show you relevant content and ads based on your browsing activity on profify.ca and other sites. Set by us and trusted third-party partners.
Up to 3 years after your last visit. Some persistent cookies must be deleted manually.
4. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES
Some cookies on profify.ca are set by trusted third-party services we use to operate and improve the platform. These may include:
· Google Analytics — website performance and traffic analysis
· Google Ads — advertising and remarketing
· Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — social media integration and advertising
· LinkedIn — professional network integration
· YouTube — embedded video content
· Stripe — payment processing
These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review them. Profify does not control third-party cookies and is not responsible for how those parties use the data collected.
5. YOUR COOKIE CHOICES
You are in control of your cookie preferences. Here is how you can manage them:
· Cookie Consent Banner: When you first visit profify.ca, a banner will appear giving you the option to accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies, or customize your preferences by category.
· Cookie Settings Tool: You can update your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of profify.ca.
· Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that disabling all cookies may prevent certain features of profify.ca from working correctly.
· Contact Us: You may also withdraw your consent or request changes by emailing support@profify.ca.
Please note that strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled as they are essential for the platform to operate.
6. CANADIAN PRIVACY LAW & COOKIES
Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) treats cookie identifiers as personal information when they can be linked to an identifiable individual. Accordingly, Profify:
· Obtains your consent before placing non-essential cookies.
· Allows you to withdraw consent at any time.
· Does not use cookies to collect sensitive personal information without explicit consent.
· Ensures all third-party data processors are bound by appropriate data protection agreements.
If you are a resident of Quebec, additional protections under Quebec's Law 25 (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector) apply. This includes the right to be informed about automated profiling and the right to de-index your information in certain circumstances.
7. COOKIE RETENTION
Different cookies are stored for different lengths of time:
· Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
· Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period (ranging from 30 days to 3 years) or until you delete them manually.
· To view retention periods for specific cookies, you can scan profify.ca using a cookie scanner tool such as allaboutcookies.org.
